International connections

Buddle Findlay is a leading corporate law firm - one that appreciates the fact business is not approached in exactly the same way all over the world.  Our team commits a large amount of time to understanding the perspective of offshore clients wishing to invest throughout New Zealand.

Overview

Buddle Findlay is one of the leading New Zealand commercial and public law firms with offices in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, and a global reach of contacts and experience.

We work with international companies and their advisers interested in pursuing investment opportunities in New Zealand, including private investors and high-profile institutional investors.  Our teams have extensive experience assisting investors on financing, negotiating, structuring and securing regulatory approvals for transactions.  We have extensive experience in advising inbound investors on all regulatory requirements including Overseas Investment Office (OIO) consent requirements.  Our team also work with outbound New Zealand businesses, looking to expand their investments and operations overseas.

Our clients include national and multi-national corporations, private equity and venture capital funds, banks and financial institutions, state-owned enterprises, government departments, and local and other statutory authorities.

We maintain close relationships with a number of law firms worldwide, including in Asia, Australia, Canada, Singapore, the United States of America and the United Kingdom.  Most of our partners and senior associates have spent time working in major firms in a number of jurisdictions and many of them have been admitted to practice in those jurisdictions.  We have established a reliable network of strong international affiliations through a combination of cross referrals, transactional experience and membership of relevant international organisations.

We are strongly aware of clients’ preferences and requirements. We have the ability of working in Mandarin and Cantonese languages.
