Partner Promotions 2022

Buddle Findlay's new partner appointments continue to build depth and expertise across its litigation, insolvency, finance, Asia business, public law, corporate and commercial and resource management teams.  The six new partners receive praise from clients and the wider Buddle Findlay team for their talent and collaborative approach to working.  Each brings a focus that enhances the firm's ability to deliver the highest level of expertise and service to clients and demonstrate the qualities that Buddle Findlay looks for in their leaders.

Bridie McKinnon, based out of the Christchurch office, is a partner in our litigation and insolvency team.  Bridie started her career with Buddle Findlay after graduating from the University of Canterbury (BA/LLB(Hons)).  Bridie takes a collaborative approach to working with clients and peers alike.  Bridie has significant experience in large commercial disputes and insolvencies, as well as trust and estate disputes and arbitrations and her work has an increasing public law focus.  Bridie is an AMINZ Accredited mediator.

 

Hak Jun Lee has joined us from Hesketh Henry, where he has been a partner since 2019.  Hak Jun will be part of our insolvency, finance and Asia business team in Auckland, and specialises in commercial property, overseas investment and banking and finance.  Hak Jun brings with him a specialist knowledge and strong connections in the Asia business market and will work closely with Terence Ng

 

Luke Sizer has joined the partnership as a dedicated litigation partner in our Auckland litigation team.  Luke has been with Buddle Findlay since 2014 (after graduating with a BA/LLB (Hons) from the University of Auckland and a LLM from Columbia University in the City of New York) and has already made an impressive contribution to the firm, with both his legal expertise and leadership skills.  Luke regularly acts on matters involving complex corporate fraud, insolvency, judicial review, regulatory issues, contractual disputes, negligence, and company disputes.

 

Natasha Wilson becomes a partner in the Wellington public law team.  Natasha joined Buddle Findlay as a solicitor in 2008, after several years in the Ministry of Health legal team.  As a key member of the public law team, she has extensive experience in public sector procurement, public sector contracting, legislation design and process, Official Information Act and privacy.  Natasha is already an integral part of our public law based health sector practice. 

 

Rupert Rouch, also based in the Wellington office, is a partner in the Wellington corporate and commercial team.  Rupert joined Buddle Findlay in 2012 and has been an integral part of the corporate and commercial team since 2015.  After a short stint with another firm, Rupert returned to Buddle Findlay in 2022.  Rupert works across the firm on a variety of corporate and commercial matters, both large and small, with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures.  Rupert is known for having a positive and collaborative approach to working.

 

Thad Ryan, based in the Wellington office, becomes a national environment and resource management partner.  Thad joined Buddle Findlay in 2007 and has worked in the resource management and Māori law areas since that time (apart from three years in London from 2011).  Thad has in depth knowledge and expertise in resource management and Māori law and regularly takes leadership roles in consenting processes for large projects, and in planning processes.
