Overview
Our team of highly experienced tax lawyers work with New Zealand and international businesses and individuals, advising them on all aspects of New Zealand direct and indirect taxation including income tax, GST and Customs duties.
Every transaction has a taxation consequence. We help our clients to identify those consequences and provide holistic and tax efficient solutions that meet clients' needs while addressing the intricacies of the New Zealand tax rules. We also work very closely with other practice groups and specialists at Buddle Findlay to ensure that we deliver well-rounded solutions for our clients that consider all relevant aspects of the laws.
We are particularly strong in corporate and finance tax matters and have extensive experience in advising on tax-effective structures for domestic and international business operations and in-bound and out-bound investment. Our areas of focus include corporate acquisitions, restructuring, investments, divestments, securitisation, project financing, structured equity products and asset financing and leasing.
We also have broad experience in successfully obtaining rulings from the New Zealand Inland Revenue to deliver certainty over tax outcomes of transactions for clients.
Because we know that taxation law is a dynamic field, we keep a close watch on current developments to monitor the impact of changes on our clients and regularly lobbying for appropriate legislative outcome. We understand the issues faced by private and public companies, individuals and unincorporated bodies and are equipped to service them at every stage of their development.
“Buddle Findlay has an amazing tax team, who understand the legislation and can relay that to the layperson in a context that they understand. Their advice has always been sound.”
