We're proud to launch an updated and refreshed Back of a Napkin, Buddle Findlay's web tool that supports early stage partnerships and helps them collaborate more confidently. Initially launched in 2013 by former Buddle Findlay partner Sacha Judd (and built with the help of our friends at Cactuslab), Back of a Napkin has helped a multitude of startup founders, collaborations and ventures align on key business decisions – from revenue sharing to decision-making to ownership of IP if things don't go to plan.
Back of a Napkin is a web tool that simplifies the process of creating vital business agreements, helping early stage/startup ventures to tackle potential challenges before they arise, and allow them to get back to creating and developing new ideas, and bringing them to life. By answering five key questions, users can generate a two-page legal agreement that protects ideas and projects. The tool is perfect for tech entrepreneurs and startups who want to focus on innovation without worrying about the complexities of legal agreements.
Buddle Findlay technology partner and early stage company lead Allan Yeoman said "Back of a Napkin has for the last 11 years been a go-to for collaborators looking to build on their ideas, with clarity and alignment on how they're going to work together. The tool has generated thousands of 'Napkins' in that time, offering a free, user-friendly platform that creates legal agreements in a matter of minutes. We're pleased to be able to breathe new life into Back of a Napkin and continue our contribution to New Zealand's startup community."
The original version of Back of a Napkin won a Gold Pin in the Interactive Marketing category of the 2014 Best Awards, and the relaunched design is a continuation of the same design and accessibility standards.
