Buddle Findlay is delighted to announce that as of 1 January 2025, Alex Chapman and Anna Wishart have been promoted to special counsel, and Michael Finucane and Rowan Woods have been promoted to senior associate.  

Our new appointments continue to build depth and expertise across the firm.  Buddle Findlay congratulates Alex, Anna, Michael and Rowan on their appointments.

Alex Chapman becomes a special counsel in the Wellington corporate and commercial team.  Alex specialises in commercial contracting with a focus on technology, privacy and data protection and intellectual property.  Her experience includes advising on complex technology procurement and outsourcing for both the private and public sectors.  Alex has a particular expertise in privacy and cross-border data protection issues.
Anna Wishart becomes a special counsel in the Christchurch corporate and commercial team.  Anna advises on trust, private client, commercial and corporate law.  Anna has particular expertise in trust law and frequently advises both private and institutional clients on trust matters.  She also has expertise in succession planning and related private client law.  Anna also acts on a wide range of transactions including negotiating and documenting corporate and commercial structures and negotiating and preparing commercial agreements.
Michael Finucane becomes a senior associate in the Auckland corporate and commercial team.  Michael specialises in corporate and commercial law, advising public and private sector clients on contractual, regulatory, privacy and procurement-related matters.  He has particular experience in the health sector, advising on commercial agreements, medico-legal issues, health sector regulation, privacy law and the management of investigations by regulators including the Health and Disability Commissioner. 
Rowan Woods becomes a senior associate in the Christchurch litigation team.  Rowan specialises in a range of issues in civil and commercial litigation.  She has expertise in contentious consumer credit issues and the Farm Debt Mediation Scheme, insolvency, and leasing and property development disputes.  Rowan also has broad experience in contract and trust disputes and advises on local government issues, including development contributions.
