The Local Government Act 2002 Amendment Act 2014 received the Royal Assent today and comes into force tomorrow.
Key reforms to the development contributions regime introduced by the Act are summarised in our July 2014 legal update.
The amended Act is not yet available. However, the third reading version of the Bill contained complex transitional provisions which will need to be considered carefully in relation to the new obligations imposed by the Act. For example, development contribution policies must be amended within one month of commencement to include the schedule of assets (required by new section 201A) and the territorial authority's reconsideration process (required by new section 202A).
